First Week of September: Cosy Days & Slow Living
The first week of September is nearly gone, and genuinely – it was everything I wished for. These recent days have been so full of charm and cosiness that my heart feels full: the cooler weather, Rosa hopping excitedly on her way to her new school, the taste of pumpkin spice in my coffee, and so much more...
Above all, Autumn is a season of gratitude, and I want to tell you how thankful I am for the time you choose to spend with me here on this blog.
Today I’m writing to you from the sofa, waiting for Andrei to finish up in the studio, with my favourite chocolate and peppermint tea in a pretty teapot by my side. These early Autumn evenings in our new home feel so sweet, and I don’t want to spend them mindlessly scrolling on my phone - I want to cherish and remember them. Andrei and I worked so hard, for so long, to finally have this little slice of our own personal heaven. Life is good ❤️
The house move is truly coming to an end. The last room – our living room – is finally taking shape. All that’s left now is to hang pictures and curtains, and we’re done for this year. Jobs like painting or wallpapering can wait until Spring or Summer 2026. To be honest, Andrei and I have exhausted any enthusiasm for renovating and decorating for now, lol. I’m certain it will come back, but for now we just want to settle into our new home and return to our usual routines.
Tonight is only the second night I get to enjoy the living room (almost) fully decorated. Until now it was bare – only a coffee table and sofa. It’s incredible what a cosy armchair and a rug can do for a space! I’ll share more soon!
We grabbed our first pumpkin spice coffees of the season on our way to a walk in the Quantock Hills. I just love taking drives at this time of year, as the landscape turns truly beautiful with the trees changing colours, and every country lane becomes a scenic road.
I love how the English countryside changes with each season, and yet remains unchanged for centuries. Pictured below: The Church of St. Mary and All Saints in Broomfield, Somerset built in the 15th and 16th centuries
I’m bursting to share with you a movie that I know every single one of you will be just as obsessed with as I am – "The Thursday Murder Club" on Netflix! Quintessentially British, with the most beautiful scenography, I’m totally sold! I haven’t been this enthusiastic about a film or TV show since I watched "All Creatures Great and Small" last year.
I’m in love with both Elizabeth and Joyce, as well as the locations and set design. Everything is so beautiful and inspiring – and I would happily steal all of Elizabeth’s and Joyce’s outfits and move into their retirement home with Andrei, haha!
Warning: I had a good cry TWICE during this movie.
Ps. They have a Polish character, Bogdan, played by a British actor :D
Continuing with recommendations, I’m currently reading “The Dead Lands” by Benjamin Percy. I picked it up rather randomly in a charity shop (2 books for £1!) and I’m about a third of the way in and so invested! I struggled a little at the beginning, but I always do when we’re introduced to lots of characters and places to remember. But once the journey began, I just can't put the book down. I really hope it stays this good until the end. I’ll let you know when I finish it!

My garden is slowing down for Autumn. I still have plenty of green tomatoes on the branches, but the courgettes, raspberries, and strawberries are coming to an end. Still, this bowl of September harvest from my garden feels so special.
They say at the end of a rainbow you’ll find a treasure and in this case, the Somerset Levels are a true treasure indeed!
With this pretty view, I’ll say goodbye to you! I’d love to hear how was the first week of September for you?
Thank you for reading,
