Cosy Baking Recipes for Autumn and the Cosy Season

Hello, my Autumn friends! One week till September… I know you can feel the change brewing. Even though the end of August and early September aren’t that different from a weather and nature point of view, something shifts in our minds. Children are going back to school, people stop thinking and talking about Summer holidays, and instead we hear the first whispers of Halloween parties and even Christmas gatherings.

For me, the last week of August is about nesting – cosying up my home, resetting before the new season, collecting books and recipes with renewed enthusiasm.

I bake a lot, but recently it’s been mostly everyday essentials like bread and burger buns. With Autumn coming the inspiration is returning. I feel like trying new recipes and revisiting old favourites, treating my family (and myself) to the comfort and warmth of freshly baked cake and the smell of cinnamon filling the house… mmm:)

This is why I planned the release of our two new scents for Autumn 2025 for the last weekend of August. I’ve been working on these candles since Spring, and they’re both delicious, bakery-inspired scents that are truly mouthwatering. Let me introduce you to Banana Bread and Blueberry Muffins – soon to be part of our official cosy candle collection! We don’t release new scents often, so this feels like a very special moment for us.

The candles will officially launch next week (30/08/2025), but I asked Andrei if he’d be happy for me to share them with my blog readers a little earlier – as a thank you for sticking with my Autumn Countdown for nearly three months! 🍂 If you’d like to try them before anyone else, they’re available exclusively through the links below:

Blueberry Muffin Candle
Banana Bread Candle

A huge thank you to everyone who ordered early - I’m so excited for you to receive your candles!!

In these last moments before the BER months begin, I know you – just like me – feel the urge to nest. So, alongside the launch of our deliciously scented new candles, I thought this would be the perfect time to share my favourite recipes with you for easy future reference. I always leave them in video descriptions and on the blog, but they’re a little scattered and not always easy to find. Gathering them all in one place felt like the best way to help those of you who don’t just watch, but also want to bake along

Cosy Autumn Baking: My Favourite Sweet Recipes

Carrot Cake

Hands down my most-used recipe. I bake it with and without raisins and nuts, sometimes only with white sugar, sometimes only with brown sugar – it always comes out good. I do suggest reducing the amount of sugar in the cream cheese frosting though, as it’s too sweet in my opinion.

Cinnamon Rolls

A simple and reliable recipe I’ve been sharing for a few years now. I usually skip the icing – just a lick of butter on top is enough, and too much sugar tends to overwhelm the bread and cinnamon flavour.

Sponge Cake

The bane of my baking life – I just cannot bake a good sponge cake to save my life! This four-ingredient recipe has become my trusty go-to instead. It’s simple, reliably good, and it doesn’t taste eggy

Chocolate Chip Cookies

It took me a while to get cookies right. I think the secret is in really well-beaten butter and sugar – don’t rush this step. The extra time makes all the difference.

Apple Crumble

My go-to crumble recipe, though I usually add more fruit than the recipe recommends. Of course, this depends on your preferences, but I find there’s often too much crumble and not enough fruit in the original ratio.

Banana Bread

One of the first recipes I ever tried when I began baking and still one of my favourites to this day. When I’m feeling a little lazy, I use oil instead of melted butter and it still comes out delicious. This banana bread disappears as soon as it’s cool enough to eat!

Blueberry Muffins

Another early recipe I still use often. I usually skip the crumble topping since the muffins come out with a lovely crisp top on their own.

Chocolate Muffins

Mmm… these are amazing – big, fluffy and a family favourite. They never last long in our house!

Gentle task for this week:

Plan your Autumn bakes. I know we all start with big plans, but life gets very busy in the last four months of the year, so take that into consideration when creating your list of treats to bake.

If you’re a seasoned baker, you already know your capabilities. But if you bake only occasionally or are just learning, perhaps choose one recipe per week – or even every two weeks – so you actually get to enjoy the process instead of feeling overwhelmed and ending up not baking at all.

A few closing words

Next week, when I write to you, it will already be the very last day of August! I sincerely wish you a cosy and magical final week of the month. Even if your children are grown-ups now (or you don’t have little ones at all), you can still enjoy the back-to-school spirit: wander through a bookshop, put on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and bake something comforting – like an apple and blackberry crumble with a pinch of cinnamon – to say goodbye to Summer and welcome the new season.

Thank you so much for reading.
