Autumn Countdown: 9 Weeks to Go – Mid-Year Reflection & Moodbaoard

Last Sunday of June… The full six months of this year are gone - can you believe it? In just a few days, we begin the second half of the year. The days are already shortening, and the countdown to Autumn is officially in single digits…

Today marks 9 weeks until Autumn!

We are now post Summer Solstice and each day we’re losing a little bit of daylight - even if it might not feel like it. You know my favourite saying (I feel like I say it a lot, lol): the wheel of the year never stands still. Tractors are busy in the fields, the evenings draw in a tiny bit earlier and you might even notice the first yellow leaves on the ground. They’ve likely fallen due to natural shedding, but they symbolise the fact that the wheel is turning - and the only constant is change.

In July, the ripening of the natural world speeds up. The wheat is maturing in the fields and fruits and vegetables are ready to pick in our gardens. Farmers are preparing their combines and storage barns for the beginning of harvest, which isn’t far off.

Here at YR Studio, Andrei and I are also busy preparing for the coming months: pouring, counting, stock-taking, labelling and more as we get ready for the busy Autumn period.

This Week’s Gentle Task

Although this time of year is busy for many of us, it’s worth slowing down for a moment to reflect on the past six months and consider the rest of the year. This mid-point is an excellent opportunity to reassess our Spring goals and set fresh intentions.

It’s important to remember that while nature begins to slow down in Autumn and Winter, our human world often does the opposite - speeding up in the lead-up to Christmas. When setting your intentions and making plans, consider how full your personal and work life can get in those final months. Try not to take on more than you can manage.

Mid-Year Reflection Questions

- What has felt meaningful so far this year?
You might want to reflect on areas like home and family life, work, self-care, health or friendships.

- What surprised you or didn’t go as planned? What lesson did it teach you?

Intentions for the Next Six Months

- What do you need more of in the coming months: rest, space, connection, self-discipline, creativity?

- How would you like to feel for the remainder of the year: calm, relaxed, energised, intentional, motivated? What steps do you need to take to feel this way?

- Is there anything you need to release from your life?

Simple Mid-Year Idea

Create a mood board for the next six months - not just something aesthetically pleasing, but one that reflects how you want to feel. I think this kind of visual representation of your goals is a great way to stay motivated and disciplined (at least for me!).

I revisit my private Pinterest board (which acts as a mood board) whenever I need inspiration or feel "meh." It instantly sparks creativity and makes me feel uplifted, since it holds everything I love and want to work toward. Things like our new candle studio, writing my first book (I’ve got plans for 4 - I'll start writing the first once we settle into the house), hitting my goals on the mat, but also the small daily joys like delicious bakes and cooking with homegrown courgettes and tomatoes.

I'd love to know what's on your mood board?

A Few Closing Words

Another week closer to September 1st and it’s time to take internal stock and decide how we’ll move through the second half of the year. Summer is now at its peak and the energy all around us encourages and inspires action. With 9 weeks until September, there’s still plenty of time to work toward our goals before the much calmer energy of Autumn arrives, inviting us to slow down and stay cosy.

Thank you for being here for week 4 of our cosy countdown to Autumn 2025
