Our New Country-Style Kitchen: A Dream Finally Come True
Hello! I have something very special to share with you - my new, country-style kitchen I've been dreaming about for so long!
Many of you got to know me through my baking videos filmed in our old kitchen. Alongside spending time in nature and cosying up my home with YR Studio candles, baking is a huge part of my life. Since the beginning of my social media journey, I’ve been doing it all in our rental kitchen - which wasn’t particularly pretty or practical:)
A little recap for those who might be new here or have found me via Pinterest without knowing much about me: My husband Andrei and I have been running a small candle and home decor business for nearly 7 years. We have two children (16 and 6 years old) and until recently, we were living in a rental house that was both too small for our growing family and quite outdated. I don’t say this to complain - quite the opposite. I think the low-key ugly tiles and dark blue worktops actually made it feel a bit more "cottage-y" in their own quirky way.
We certainly made it work - our family spent many happy years in that home while we saved for our first house! Even more special, it was in that old kitchen where I started YR Studio, making candles on the countertops, filming my first reels and later YouTube videos. And here we are now, beginning a new chapter ❤️
Tea towel hanging on the oven door... because you can take the girl out of Poland, but you can’t take Poland out of the girl, LOL!
You can find all the candles and many of the home decor items you see on my shelves and countertops in our shop here. Some pieces, like the cutting board and crock pot are thrifted.
In January 2025, we placed an offer on a house in a village surrounded by the Somerset Levels, with a beautiful back garden and a spacious living/dining room - a dream come true! The inside of the house was in quite poor shape - we estimate the kitchen was the original one, which makes it around 38 years old. Now, I don’t think 38 years is that much (being 36 myself, lol), but it is quite a lot for a kitchen.
We knew we’d have to replace the entire kitchen and pantry. The work began in May 2025 and by the end of July, both the kitchen and pantry were completed. There’s still a garage currently being converted into our new work studio, which we hope will be ready by early August.
You can find our Farmhouse Almond & Apple candle here - it’s the perfect cosy scent for your kitchen!
So, here we are today. This Sunday, I’ll be sharing the new kitchen and how I decorated it over on my YouTube channel - but I always feel extra grateful for those who read my blog, so I wanted to share it with you first, before anyone else gets to see it!
They say the kitchen is the heart of the home - it certainly is in our family. And it feels all the more special to be sharing it here with you, my lovely readers, first.
Of course, this is just the beginning - this kitchen (and the rest of the house) has many empty corners and walls, but I’m not rushing to fill them with meaningless tat. I’ll take my time curating decor that truly reflects my style and the cosy atmosphere I want for our family.
Thank you so much for sticking around over the past few years in our old house. I invite you to join me on this exciting journey as we turn our house into a home!
