My Home Journal: Rustic May Living Room & Kitchen Countryside Touches
The first Spring blossoms are fading, making way for a whole new wave of growth. Everywhere you look, green leaves, colourful flowers and gentle blossoms are appearing, making the English countryside simply, utterly gorgeous. Spring has truly settled in now, and with just days left until May, I want to reflect this this fresh, green chapter in my home.
Adding a full, lively wreath (which is also available in the shop here) and bunches of flowers brings the outside in - everywhere I look, my eyes fall on something green. Just lovely! In May, wisteria starts blooming in the English countryside, so bringing a few branches into our homes is a lovely way to invite that countryside feeling in (even if the branches are artificial, shhhh:). I styled them in our lovely ceramic vase with handles, next to a pair of rustic candle holders - these are truly some of my favourite pieces I’ve ever sourced and I have such a soft spot for them. Recently, I had them in the kitchen, but now I’ve moved them back to the living room and paired them with our sage green candles - a match made in heaven.
The corner pictured above is "my" corner of the sofa - it’s where I read, write (including this blog 😊) and nap. Our feather cushions have been a godsend - they’re so comfortable, look exquisite and are easily fluffed back into shape. On the tray, I styled a bunch of hydrangeas that make me dream of Summer, a cute little cottage tealight holder and an antique metal candle holder. Just to note - they’re there purely for decorative purposes. When I’m ready to light the candles, I’ll move them to the coffee table, away from fabric and artificial flowers - safety first!
Eeeek, the cabbage jar! I’m so excited about this addition to my home (and the shop). At the moment, I’ve placed it in the kitchen alongside my mint - which is planted in the shorter version of the vase with handles - but I have to find a spot for it in the living room too. It adds such rustic, summery charm and can be used to store jewellery, sweets, or other little bits and bobs.
I’m LOVING my home at the moment - even more so, since these are our last few months at this address! I’ll update you shortly with some exciting news, and I promise that my blog readers will know first — you are my favourite people on the internet.
Thank you so much for reading,
