A Cosy Autumn Day in the Cotswolds & Somerset
As Autumn progresses into Winter, we have now officially ended British Summer Time – the clocks have changed as the nights lengthen and we enter the darker part of the year. For some, it might feel like a time of doom and gloom, but for us (yes, us, because I know you are on board with me!), it's time to light our candles and make the most of these cosy evenings.
We recently visited Castle Combe at the beginning of October on a chilly but very sunny day, with a blue sky and not a cloud in sight – you can watch a video here. A few days ago, we passed by the village again on a gloomy, rainy day at the end of the same month, and I asked Andrei (my husband) to stop by so we could have a little wander around and see the village in the Autumnal mist and rain. Ohhh, I'm so glad we did, because Castle Combe does not disappoint! Despite the rain, you could smell the smoke from the chimneys in the air, and the little medieval cottages, with their puffing chimneys, looked like the cosiest places on earth. The village is surrounded by trees whose tops were covered in mist, creating a magical atmosphere. I'm glad we made this stop and that I can now share it with you through the video below.
We got a little wet, but afterward, we stopped at the lovely Merkins Farm Cafe and enjoyed a warming coffee and delicious meal.
Later that afternoon, once we returned to our home (which is in Somerset, not the Cotswolds – for clarity), I lit candles and cosied up our home for the evening. Ahhh, a perfect day!
You can shop our cosy Autumn candles, like "Autumn Leaves" and "Pumpkin Spice" as well as rustic home decor, right here on our website. Don’t forget to tag me in your social media posts – I love seeing your cosy accounts!
